24 hours at home with Andrée Falls | Immovable

Home is where the calm is for Andrée Falls from Sage Bakehouse

When the last toast is sold, the floors are swept and the lights go down at Sage Bakehouse for a closed Sunday rest, Andrée Falls quietly recharges in her minimalist-inspired home off Cerro Gordo Road.

It’s easy to see how the buzz of running a bustling business can be dampened by the calm slate of light grays and natural tones that flows through Falls’ contemporary perch.

Designed by renowned architect Trey Jordan and built by leading custom home builder Campbell & Steele, the 1,100 square foot Falls hideaway is economical in its footprint yet abundant in its simplicity and stillness.

A former Dallas chef and former co-owner with her mother of the hugely popular Oak Lawn Parigi bistro, Andrée is clearly comfortable with people’s food and diets. Now in its 26th year as owner-operator of what can rightly be called a Santa Fe institution, Falls has designed a meeting and dining space that skillfully blends the practicality of an industrial farmhouse. at calido serviceall with bread in the middle.

“When I think of home, I think there’s nowhere else I’d rather be.”

On a busy summer Saturday (pre-COVID), five hundred people can walk in and out of the doors of the bakery on Cerrillos Road. So Andrée’s luxury is to do nothing at home. Or more exactly, do what she loves. Reading, long walks or runs with his three-year-old bouncy border collie mix and cooking dinner for a small group of pals – which often means a one-pot simmering meal (I’m guessing that’s Le Creuset) – do part of Andrée’s restorative routine.

Andrée offers a “twin” rental, Sage Haven, in a signature modern style.
