Calusa Garden Club Learns Floral Design for Thanksgiving Sale | Clubs & Organizations

On Wednesday, October 19, members of the Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island met to study floral design with club member Lindy Kowalczyk, who is a floral design instructor and flower show judge. After Kowalczyk’s lesson, workshop participants practiced floral design by making either traditional floral designs or creative floral designs. The practice came at a good time, as the Calusa Garden Club gears up for its plant sale to be held on Tuesday, Nov. 22, which will feature fresh flower arrangements appropriate for Thanksgiving tables and buffets.

The November 22 flower and plant sale will be held outdoors in the parking lot of Marco Lutheran Church from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Club members prepare for the sale by repotting their landscape plants and houseplants and creating succulent dish gardens as well as herb gardens and mixed planters. In addition to the beautiful and elegant flower arrangements designed for Thanksgiving, Charlette Roman will sell beautiful orchids.

Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island is a 501(c)3 organization and is a member of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs. Membership is open to those interested in horticulture, floral design and environmental issues residing five months or more in Collier County.

The Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island meets the second Monday of each month, October through April, at the Rose Hall of the Marco Island Library.
