ALAMO, California, USA, Aug. 22, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — At J. Montgomery Designs, we’re always excited about new things, especially when they relate to landscape architecture, so the Contemporary landscaping has truly stolen our hearts. Here are some of our favorite contemporary elements that we use in landscape design that stun with their simple and innovative modern style.

Clean lines, a dominant harsh landscape, and emphasis on structural plantings combine to form contemporary landscape aesthetics, from New York to the Bay Area. At J. Montgomery Designs, we love the emphasis on structure and simplicity, especially when combined with existing architecture to give the entire property a real update. We cannot forget the effect of strong geometry in outdoor spaces – angular retaining walls, minimalist structures and bold angles play with the space, creating landscapes that are both calming and energetic. No wonder we love this look!

Combined hardscape is a trend we are really in love with! Stone and gravel of varying sizes combine with concrete or stone pavers and are held in place with clean metal edging for geometric elegance on the floor. Contrast is great – Smooth river pebbles contrast with raw reclaimed wood, black trim with white walls, industrial materials side by side with organic. Cor-ten steel is undeniably an iconic contemporary material for everything from planters to retaining walls. Its unique rust palette provides a warm contrast to gray stone and concrete.

The new planting design covers a wide range, from natural grasslands to structural specimens. Texture seems to reign supreme with soft, wispy grasses contrasting against the harsh landscape, thick, leathery leaves stand tall amidst soft ground covers, and wild-looking plants have a bold presence individually or en masse. Warm colors can brighten and soften the geometric landscape.

The refreshing green of the grass is also present – whether real, fake or combined. While it might come as a surprise, we design with faux turf to help customers maximize water efficiency and make life easier – no mowing or brown spots to deal with here. Not to mention that new faux grass styles are getting more and more compelling. It can really look real, stylish and neat. Who knew?! At J. Montgomery Designs, we find contemporary planting to be a whole vibe, and we’re here for it.

Above, a louvered pergola is fully controlled at the touch of a button – open for a breeze or for slanting sunlight, or fully closed for protection from the elements. All LED lights are also remote controlled, and this grill pictured above from Lynx is state of the art. The perfect place to watch your favorite HGTV show or grill your best patties, or take it up a notch with the outdoor sound system.

Dancing highly recommended.
