Live Events Company Tait Acquires Los Angeles Design Firm | Local company

Tait, the Lititz-based company that produces stages, sets and show control systems for live events around the world, announced on Wednesday that it has agreed to acquire Thinkwell Group, a global company based in Los Angeles specializes in the planning, design and production of facilities.

Company officials declined to discuss terms of the deal, which brings together more than 170 Thinkwell employees under the Tait umbrella. All will be retained, company representatives said.

Tait has more than 1,000 employees worldwide, including nearly 500 employees based at its Lititz headquarters.

The move aims to position Tait, best known for his onstage work for artists such as Taylor Swift, as “the most comprehensive developer of end-to-end entertainment and experiences,” the company said in a statement. hurry.

“Tait’s pre-COVID strategy to pursue growth in all aspects of live entertainment and experiences has not given up,” the company responded to questions from LNP through its PR agency, Rubenstein. .

It is the fourth acquisition since early 2019, when a private equity firm made a major investment in Tait. Providence Equity Partners’ stake in Tait is unclear. At the time, Tait executives said the investment would help the company through its next phase of growth. The infusion was expected to accelerate growth and strengthen its market position, they said.

The transaction is the seventh acquisition by Tait since 2012, according to Tait’s website. Tait co-developed the Rock Lititz campus in Warwick Township for live event businesses, although Tait itself does not occupy any of the Rock Lititz buildings. It operates elsewhere in Lititz.

This strategy appears to have broadened Tait’s ability to produce live experiences in places such as theme parks and resorts:

  • In June 2019 Tait acquired Kinesys, a London-based global company which provides automation systems to the entertainment industry. It manufactures hoists and digital systems to control them. Hoists raise and lower lighting, sets, video walls, trusses and other items.

  • In November 2019, Tait acquired Brilliant Stages, based in Wakefield, UK known for creating epic structures, advanced steps, and spectacular moves.

  • In October 2021, Tait acquired ITEC Entertainment, a Florida company that creates spectacular places and experiences. The company serves the leisure, hospitality and entertainment industries. The deal included its engineering design and production division, ITEC Technologies.

The acquisition comes at a time when the live entertainment industry is rebounding from the pandemic shutdown and looking for innovation to hold the attention of consumers who have been immersed in digital and virtual entertainment for two years.

Tait is a leading company in the design and production of stages used by touring rock bands, as well as installations for theaters, cruise ships, corporate events and other settings. Its big-name clients range from Princess Cruises, Fortnite World Cup and U2 to Disney, Universal and the Olympics. At the heart of its services is Tait Navigator, a state-of-the-art proprietary show control and automation platform that maximizes the client’s creative vision.

Thinkwell Group is a global strategy, experience design and production agency specializing in the planning, design and production of world-class guest experiences for theme parks and museums. Its clients include Warner Bros. Studios and Google.
