Looking for a job? Top Jobs Tuesday employer Mungo Homes is hiring | Batesburg-Leesville

Mungo Homes has nearly 70 years under its (tool) belt – and it continues to grow. The Midlands stalwart started as a family business in 1954. It was acquired by Berkshire Hathaway in 2018 and joined Clayton Properties Group, but is still family-run. The company now operates in more than 10 markets in four states, including South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Virginia.

This growth means more opportunities for the company and its employees, according to Faith Felix, head of talent acquisition at Mungo.

“We need residential project managers in all markets, and especially in Colombia right now,” Felix said. “We call them ‘builders’. You still have the option to start as a builder trainee. Straight out of college, we really like to see people majoring in construction sciences, as they have a bit of experience there and can usually be up and running quicker. But we still accept higher level builders who can also transfer from another home builder.

Felix said Mungo is also always on the lookout for top talent in sales. “We would like to speak to anyone with a residential sales license in South Carolina. You are not required to have a real estate license to start with us as an assistant, but you must obtain it before moving into a full-time agent role and managing your own community.

The company culture is one of the biggest benefits of working for Mungo, according to Felix. “Cultural fit is absolutely key here. Skills are great, but we can teach skills. We like to employ people who will fit in perfectly and become part of our family. The older we get, the more it’s just a really big family.

The company also offers great benefits, Felix added. “We were recently recognized as one of the best places to work in South Carolina and were number one for our benefits plan.”

Felix said Mungo also emphasizes other ways to make belonging to the company rewarding — and even fun. “We try to do team building activities every quarter, like fishing or golf. Another thing I really like about Mungo is how we give back to the community. There are many opportunities for charitable giving and volunteering. It is something very gratifying.
