Lowlands Group Brings Back Dome Dinner for Another Winter Amid Higher Covid Numbers

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Lowlands Group recently announced the return of “Lowlands Winter” to its eight major cafes and dinner clubs in Milwaukee and Madison. This unique variety of heated outdoor structures, including domes, globes, Northwoods cabins and winter cabins, will serve to keep diners warm as they enjoy a meal with friends and family this season. Lowlands Group was among the first to offer private outdoor dining in Wisconsin with the launch of its popular Lux Domes in 2018. New offerings this year include Northwoods cabins at the Buckatabon Tavern & Supper Club made by a craftsman from Northwoods Wisconsin, and new larger domes at Café Benelux. Reservations are available online.

“We have been so blown away by the response to our outdoor winter experiences in previous years that we wanted to elevate all of our spaces this winter,” said Eric Wagner, CEO of Lowlands Group. “Our new Alpenglobes at Café Benelux and Café Hollander are the only ones of their kind east of the Mississippi, and our custom fish shacks sourced and built in Eagle River will add a whole new dimension to Buckatabon’s winter experiences.”

Café Benelux, Centraal Grand Café & Tappery, Café Hollanders Downer, Tosa, Brookfield and Hilldale, as well as the Buckatabon Tavern & Supper Club, will offer individual private outdoor dining facilities with family-style seating, festive decor and heaters that keep winter away. Private outdoor experiences are tailored to each restaurant’s distinct concept and feature peak evening and weekend reservation slots that can be pre-booked online, with prices ranging from $ 50 to $ 200 depending on the place and time. People without an appointment will be accepted based on availability. Each booking experience includes a private catering structure that can accommodate up to 6-10 people for 90 minutes, as well as a beverage package selected by the group. Specially prepared drinks and additional menus are designed for family-style service, with themed or customizable options.

“From luxurious heated domes to the rustic and cozy cabins of Northwoods, we really have something for everyone,” Wagner added. “Part of life in Wisconsin is either fighting winter or embracing it. We prefer to embrace it.

Seasonal drink package highlights include Buckatabon Old Fashioned, Sweater Weather Mule, Rumchata Cocoa, and more. Ready-meal menus are available at various locations and range from charcuterie and cheese platters to hummus, Mezza platters, sliders and more.

Experiences include:

Buckatabon Tavern & Supper Club (Wauwatosa) – Frank & Larry’s Northwoods Shanties

Known for his nostalgic and entertaining Northwoods and dinner club experience, Buckatabon is heading back outside this winter, presenting three new and unique Frank & Larry’s Northwoods Shanties. Building on Buckataton’s ever-growing list of Northwoods partners, these cabins were designed and built in collaboration with Ken Schels, owner of KMS in Eagle River.

Café Benelux (Third Quarter) – Lux Domes and Lux heated rooftop tent

The Lux Domes are back on the roof of Café Benelux for the next holiday season, better than ever. These heated domes sold out almost immediately last season due to their popularity and this year Lowlands are offering six new Alpenglobe domes, accommodating up to 8 people, which are more comfortable and more luxurious. For non-private dining options, Café Benelux also offers the Lux rooftop heated tent, allowing diners to enjoy the view from the most unique rooftop in the Third Quarter.
